Hasbro
was developing a New JEM line. The project was canceled
(I would assume for the Pussycat Dolls dolls, 2006 -
which was also canceled) There was rumored that Hasbro
is still planning for a 2007-2008. But that seems to
be just a rumor, it sounds like Jem is not in development
at the moment.
There was no sign of Jem at the 2007
Toy Fair. So more then likely Jem will not be back for
2007. But Hasbro is still updating the trademarks, for
dolls, books, etc. With any luck, we well see something
by 2011 for Jem's 25th Anniversary.

Glitter'n Gold World Tour
/ Rappin' Air Lines
thanks to
JemBoyHolland
This booklet was given to a
fan of the show/dolls in 1988. Hasbro gave this person
the booklet, Rama Llama™ and JEMSTAR™ earrings.
It sounds like someone at Hasbro has a soft spot in the
heart for this Jem fan.
It looks like this booklet
would have come in the doll/fashions boxes, replacing
the MTV jacket mail-in offer. It seems that these would
have only been available in the 1988 boxes, since we
have not seen any show up in the 1987 boxes -- but it
could have been in (or planned for) later 1987 boxes.
This is the first official picture of Rama Llama
we have ever seen. It states that Rama Llama was a
special gift from South America. -- It's strongly
rumored that Rama Llama would have in introduced into
the show.
The 2nd offer is for JEMSTAR earrings, Hasbro them
connected to the episode "Adventures in China."
The earrings pictured are not the earrings give as
the promotional JEMSTAR earrings. Those earrings where
originally sold in the "Reaching for the Stars
Cosmetics Set" with perfume, and a necklace.
-- the Perfume was going to be reused as Hollywood
Perfume and sold with the Hollywood Jem doll. thanks
Bradford206 of jemcon.org messageboard, for Hollywood
Jem info.
The Jem Club packet was still available, but each
piece now represents a city on the "World Tour"
This offer was good until January 30, 1989, and Printed
in Hong Kong. Seems odd that it was printed in Hong
Kong, since most of the 1987 line was from China --
with except of Rio's body and the cassette tapes. It
also has H-44 which seems to be associated with Jem
and the Holograms, with the exception of Glitter'n Gold
Jem/Jerrica. Rio, the Misfits and Starlight Girls where
not associated with H-44.

A second version of this cassette says "Made
in U.S.A." on the Side B, and Jealousy fixed.
It seems that after the mail in offer was
done, the cassettes where sent to may stores and given
free with purchase. Some stores even sold them for a dollar
or so.
The Canadian version of the cassette has the songs in
English on one side. French versions of the songs replaces
the instrumentals from the US cassettes. Jealousy
is spelled correctly.

The UK version of the cassette
has aqua blue print on the a sticker. Like the US version
Jealousy is misspelled -- Jealously.

The UK rebate
is in the form of a sticker that was placed on the boxes.

Here's Your JEM Rebate Check
and 2 Other Outrageous Offers!

When
you got your check by mail it came with two more special
offers: Rama Llama and the Dream Tour cassette offer.
The outside pages are made of a kind of carbon paper,
so that the check inside could be printed while it was
sealed. If my memory service me right, there was a check
on a folded piece of paper. So the check and the Dream
Tour Cassette offer had to be torn apart. I cashed the
check, and I think I sent in the tape offer ... because
its not with the rest of my Jem items. As you can see
I got a check for $6.00 on 5/25/88. So by the time I
got the check it was too late to get the Rama Llama,
I'm not sure about the Dream Tour Cassette expiration
date.
Rama also became a My Little Pony mail-in offer after
Jem was canceled.
Rockin' Refund
Now I'm not sure if this really
was a promotion for Jem or just a planned promotion. This
idea was that you could send $1 to get a coupon book (certificates)
for amounts of the different Jem products. The total amount
of savings could be $22 and up. An ex-Hasbro Employee
gave this to me, but did not know much about it.
I have a feeling that this became the Sizzling Spring
Savings promotion .
Contest for a chance to be
in the audience of a real concert,
a CD player, and more...
I really do not remember to much about this, other
then there was a TV commercial running on the local
FOX satiation. I thinking it came out around the time
of the Glitter'n Gold episode, or after. Clips from
GnG where in the commercial.
I won the Flip Side Fashion "Let's Rock This Town"
4235/4045, along with it was a letter saying a signed
picture of Jem would be coming soon.
It also had a $2 rebate...I know very little about that
rebate now. I just can't remember.
There also is a special promotional tape that came sealed
in Spanish Jem/Jerrica doll boxes.
There was a special promotion in New Zealand. If you bought
a Jem/Jerrica, with a special sticker, you could cut it
out and fill in your name and address and get"Free!
On Stage Fashions" One Fashion for every Jem/Jerrica
and/or could have won $1000.
