Hasbro
had Jem on display at the New York Comic Con from Oct
13-16, 2011, for her 25th Anniversary. The display included
the old Hasbro dolls, Hasbro Toy Fair Catalogs with
Jem on the cover, along with new t-shirts available
at welovefine.com.
They had a real live Jem, a video promo for the DVDs,
just released, and lots of giveaways. Jem/Jerrica, and
especially Synergy, were also featured in an exclusive
comic book under the title UNIT:E.
I just had to go and check it out for
myself. This page includes lots of pictures from the
con that I thought you might find interesting, cool,
and/or funny – with lots of pictures of Jem and
the display sprinkled in. I had to “Take a Train”
to see Jem, so I had to include a shot of it, along
with the first shots of the city coming out of the subway
and into the fog. I also had to include the line, starting
on the south side of the building, then west, then north,
and finally the entrance on the east side. It was a
long line, but moved quickly.
Doll Geeking: the dolls were all
either H22 (Misfits) or H44 (Holograms), so no H32 (Super
Star version). Most of the dolls had a "Sign Off
Sample" tag that read "Hasbro Standard".
These dolls would have been from the Hasbro Archive.
Five of each toy have these "Sign Off Sample"
tag -- one goes into the Archive, one goes to the Factory
in which the toy is made, one to Marketing, one to Packaging,
and the fifth goes to the Designer of the specific toy.
They had Synergy displayed only out of the box, rest
of the dolls were displayed in a box (Jem and Rio in
and out of the box), and the Synergy had to color change
problem with her legs. The Rockin’ Roadster was
also missing hubcaps and the hood ornament.

New York Comic Con Exclusive
Jem,
or I should say Synergy, has new life in this Hasbro
New York Comic Con Exclusive comic book. The comic is
developed to highlight some of Hasbro inactive and/or
less known brands.
Brands include: Stretch Armstrong (2
page*), M.A.S.K. (2 page*), Jem and the Holograms (2
page*), The Action Man. (1page) and Battleship Galaxies
(1page), Micronauts (2 page*), UNIT:E (1 page) and Candy
Land - Kingdom of Sweet Adventures (1 page), & Primordia
(2 page*). There may be a hint to a new brand called
UNIT:E that does not anything to do with brands highlighted
in the comic.

UNIT:E and/or this comic book seems to
be a launching point for the brands Hasbro is updating
for new toys lines, movies, and/or TV series.
