By the time
the 1988 Hasbro catalog went to print Jem was canceled,
so Jem was not included. If Jem had shown in the officially
Toy Fair catalog, more then likely, Hollywood Jem (4009),
the Stingers Asst. (4012), along with the dolls and
fashions shown the Pre-Toy Fair catalog. New fashion
sets, and reissues of the fashions would be likely,
but it is difficult to say what would have been released
– development was postponed because of lack of
sales from Toy Fair 1987, so no development was started
on the new 1988 fashion assortments, like Hollywood
JEM and the Stingers. More then likely the Star Stage
and Backstager would have been included, both were continued
from 1987, the Roadster did not seem to be. (store inventory
lists)
It’s unclear if the new Red Dress Pizzazz was
still in the works, or canceled earlier along with Graphix.
It seems that Hasbro had discontinued the Misfits completely
and was going to release another Jem under the 4010
stock number, originally the number for the Misfits
Asst. (store inventory lists) It’s also hard to
say if the new Rio “Rio O’Boy” would
have been discontinued earlier or still available when
Jem was finally canceled.
