Jem et les Hologrammes (France) - All three sets are out, but "Father's Day" is not included.

Updated: June 20, 2010

Rumor: Hasbro revealed prototypes of dolls to Investors during the Fall 2009 Investor Day -- for the new cartoon.

  • Jem was not mentioned during the web cast portion.
  • Hasbro stated some titles were not going to be talked about to prevent competition, but the investors would see them in development during the work through of Hasbro.

So, it could be true -- but no offical word.

Updated: Jan 25, 2010

It seems at the same time Hasbro added a new JEM™ for Entertainment Services, they also registered a few JEM URL's. Feb. 25, 2008 Hasbro registered jemmovie.com and jemandthehologramsmovie.com.
Thanks Dragonielle from jemcon.org for this information.

Updated: Aug 24, 2009

Hasbro was developing a New JEM line. The project was canceled (I would assume for the Pussycat Dolls dolls, 2006 - which was also canceled) There was rumored that Hasbro is still planning for a 2007-2008. But that seems to be just a rumor, it sounds like Jem is not in development at the moment.

There was no sign of Jem at the 2007 Toy Fair. So more then likely Jem will not be back for 2007. But Hasbro is still updating the trademarks, for dolls, books, etc. With any luck, we well see something by 2011 for Jem's 25th Anniversary.

JEM vs. Maxie (Hasbro 1988-1990)

It was thought that Maxie was Jem's replacement, Hasbro's cure to the lack of sales from Jem. Come to find out that statement is not true at all. Hasbro planned on releasing both Jem and Maxie in 1988. Hasbro was going to compete with itself. The Maxie concept was going to reach a younger group of girls, that Jem did not reach. Because of Jem's lack of sales, Hasbro decided not to move forward with Jem, but to continued with Maxie line. Hasbro was hoping the Maxie sales would be much stronger then Jem's was.

Hasbro had just acquired the rights to the successful Sindy doll of the European market, and decide to try the same kind of doll in the states. Maxie, though not a exact copy, is a copy of Sindy.

In 1990, Maxie was starting her 3rd year in production, with a third beach theme, a skating doll, a bicycling doll, babysitting doll, and a pretended rock band. The Sun Splash dolls where the only dolls to be produced for 1990. The skating and bicycling dolls where produced in the UK as Sindy dolls, with the Sindy head mold. Maxie's band did not surfaces in any shape of form. Like Rockin' Pretty Maxie, left, all of the pretend band would have come with instruments originally produced for the Jem line.

Rockin' Pretty Maxie 1990 (unproduced)

Here are some Maxie doll faces ... these dolls are much closer to Jem's molds then the Starlight Girls' molds. Notice the make-up, though it is not as extreme, most of the make-up is two color and patterned similar to Jem's...also the eye and use of color are very Jem like.
Some of the same material and accessories where used in the Maxie line.
These are Sun Splash Simone's glass ... they are the same style as Jem/Jerrica's glasses
Hair Ties - 2 from Rock'n Curl Jem
vs. 3 Mix'n Match accessories. The same fabric in different colors.
Earrings - Raya and Rockin' Curl Jem
vs. Sun Splash Simone (not the same color, scan makes them look closer in color) and Hula Hoop Maxie
Bracelets - Rock'n Curl Jem and Clash
vs. 3 Mix'n Match accessories
These earrings are from the Mix'n Match accessories, but they look like they should be for the Misfits.

Maxie's Friends: Carly also has these style of earrings lightning bolt earrings.

These Maxie earrings are similar in style to Jem's earrings.

  • Pink hearts - Perfect Prom Maxie
  • Green triangle - Beach Keen Maxie (also in yellow)
  • Green, purple, and yellow hearts - Mix'n Match accessories

There are rumors that some 2nd issue Pizzazz came with this triangular earring.
