Speculation

1986 "Mystery Man" Who is He/She Craig Phillips? What's Up with Jetta??//Jetta vs. Graphix!! Do The Stingers Fit In ?? Factory Sealed Bag Fashions
The pages is just speculation, it is not meant to be taken as fact. Some facts are used, but the facts used may not support the view point on this page. This page is just for fun, and may become obsolete as we found out more of what Hasbro/Sunbow was working on.

Who is He/She Craig Phillips?

Where could this bizzar He/She doll come from?
Craig Phillips

In the episodes "The Talent Search" part 1 and 2, Shana left Jem and the Holograms to be a designer. So to replace Shana, Jem held a contest and the winner would be the new drummer...the two finalists: where Raya and Craig Phillips.

So the rumor is that there was a Craig Phillips doll planned for sale, along with Raya. The sales of the dolls would dictate who became the new drummer.

Personally, I don't know if Hasbro would have planned for the Holograms to be without a drummer for a year so that they could find out which doll was the better seller. Even if they did sell the dolls for 3 months to find out which doll was selling better; it would have taken another few months to get the episode out saying which doll was the winner. It would be a really cool way to sell dolls though.

Plus it be very odd for Hasbro to release a doll with a "real" name. A Craig Phillips doll would be the only doll with a full name from Hasbro.

Craig Phillips w/the superstar doll with female body

After the Jem line was stopped, Hasbro's factory throw the extra doll parts together. So when they ran out of male bodies the used female bodies.

He is thought to be Craig Phillips, but he may not be. The story of him being Craig is from Hasbro (but not Officially stated). Craig was developed for the show. Most of the dolls where made, then shown to the writers so that a character could be worked into the show.  Other characters from the show where not planned for a doll release. The idea for the Craig may have been told to Hasbro at the time when that show was being written. So they may have tried to develop the Craig doll.

If it is Craig: his hair would have been cut shorter before the doll was sold. If Craig, he would have been put out in 1987, same time Raya came out. But when Hasbro decided on which dolls to come out for 1988, he was not one of them.
