Rumor: Hasbro revealed
prototypes of dolls to Investors during the Fall 2009
Investor Day -- for the new cartoon.
Jem was not mentioned during the web cast portion.
Hasbro stated some titles were not going to be talked
about to prevent competition, but the investors would
see them in development during the work through of
Hasbro.
Hasbro
was developing a New JEM line. The project was canceled
(I would assume for the Pussycat Dolls dolls, 2006 -
which was also canceled) There was rumored that Hasbro
is still planning for a 2007-2008. But that seems to
be just a rumor, it sounds like Jem is not in development
at the moment.
There was no sign of Jem at the 2007
Toy Fair. So more then likely Jem will not be back for
2007. But Hasbro is still updating the trademarks, for
dolls, books, etc. With any luck, we well see something
by 2011 for Jem's 25th Anniversary.

In 1988 Barbie and the Rockers was replaced
by a 50’s style band called Barbie and the Sensations.
It's really not clear if Mattel wanted the Sensations
to be the third year Rockers or not. Mattel also changed
the names of the dolls.
Diva became Bopsy (Red headed)
Dee Dee became Belinda (African-American)
Dana became Becky (Asian-American)
Derek because Bobby, with real hair, but was not
available in all markets
The line came with fashions and a playset called “Jukebox
Music Shop.” These dolls were marketing in a two
part cartoon called “Barbie and the Rockers: Out
of this World” and “Barbie and the Sensations:
Rockin’ Back to Earth.” No reference is
made to the new “B” names given to these
dolls. The following year, only the Barbie was offered,
and the line was not updated.
